Ahead of the midterm elections in November, some of U.S. President Donald Trump's MAGA base is turning away. This includes key groups, such as conservative voters at Turning Point USA Womens Leadership Summit. Washington correspondents Katie Simpson, Willy Lowry and Louis Blouin ask: How are those groups feeling about the Republican Party after months of war and high gas prices? Louis Blouin: The impact on the wallet, it's going to be felt at the pump for months, and like there's some experts saying these days, before the output of oil comes back to regular levels, it is going to take months. It might even wait until 2027, and economy and prices and cost of living is still the priority to a lot of Americans, the national polls show it too. And I'm not sure when you're president like thatespecially when traditionally, presidents that are in power don't do well in the midtermsthen you add that layer, yeah, we'll see how it plays with independent voters. It's the independents that will sway the [midterms] so I think it's a non-negligible impact if you consider, even if we're months away, because it's still going to be felt. And people know how much it costs them to fill their car.
